At the first “Logistics Day EUR Pallet” of the Gütegemeinschaft Paletten Mr Harry F. Jacobi, CEO of the European Pallet Association (EPAL), talks about the aim to increase the global competitiveness of the EUR-pallet. Despite the considerable increase in production, the European Pallet Pool and the pallet 800 x 1 200 mm slowly encounter their limits as in Great Britain, France and the Netherlands people favour the pallet 1 000 x 1 200 mm whereas the most popular pallet size in the United States is 1 219 x 1 016 mm (40x48 inch) and 1 100 x 1 100 mm in Asia.

For this reason EPAL has added two more pallet types of the dimensions 1 200 x 1 000 mm and 1 000 x 1 200 mm to its product range. The pallets are marked with the known brands EPAL and EUR. The EPAL exchange system is offered world-wide, especially export companies in China are very interested in the pallet exchange with Europe. The European Pallet Pool is the world’s biggest pool with more than 350 million pallets in circulation. In 2006 alone approx. 52 million new EUR pallets have been produced under licence of EPAL and put into circulation.
