Promotion of the global pallet exchange with new designs:
EPAL introduces forgery-proof quality seal
Cologne. At the first “Logistics Day EUR-pallet” on 29 March 2007 in Cologne, the European Pallet Association e.V. (EPAL) has announced the extension of the pallet pool. “From today we will add new exchange pallet types of the dimensions 1 000 x 1 200 mm and 1 200 x 1 000 mm marked with EUR to our standard EUR pallet 800 x 1 200 mm”, says Thomas Ulitzsch, secretary of the Gütegemeinschaft Paletten. Furthermore EPAL plans to introduce a considerably more robust pallet 800 x 600 mm which shall replace the “Düsseldorfer Pallet” at the end of this year.
Annother innovation applying from 1 April 2007 is the introduction of a forgery-proof quality seal for the EUR box pallets. Reason for the introduction of new pallet types within the pallet pool is among others the fact that the pallet 1 000 x 1 200 mm is the most popular pallet size used for global logistics. EPAL also plans to work over the EUR box pallet. The dimensions 800 x 1 200 mm shall be maintained. Yet the approximate weight of 70 kg shall be reduced by approximately 10 kg by saving on the non-load bearing parts of the EUR box pallet.
